The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is about Katniss, a sassy and rebellious teen with a unique gift with a bow and arrow. She lives in Panem, the only place left after many wars and the self destruction of our race. Panem is run my the Capitol and under its rule are the 12 districts, each with a different skill. Katniss belongs to district 12 along with her mother, sister Primrose and best friend Gale. The unique thing about this new world is that every year there is a Hunger Games in which 24 teens, 2 from each district, have a fight to the death with only one victor. And Katniss gets thrown into the middle of it all.

I read the hunger games quite a while ago, before there was any mention of films coming out at all. It intrigued me as to how the system of the games would work and my interest continued even after I closed the end of the book. It is very well written with an amazing attention to detail. The characters almost felt real, and i found my self crying at points.
