Popular a Memoir by Maya Van Wagenen is a truly inspirational and motivational true story about Maya, a modern geek at the bottom of the social hierarchy. One day she finds a 1950's popularity guide written by teen model of the time, Betty Cornell. She decides to follow the guide completely in an attempt to see whether the advice from decades ago would still actually work.

I found this novel to be truly amazing, inspiring and motivational. Maya is such a bubbly and bright personality and her journey and what she discovers is too. This book made me laugh out loud andd nearly cry, but the end result and conclusion opened my eyes and made me see things a lot differently

I would rate this book 9/10 and would definitely recommend it to anybody, especially teens and pre teens who may be insecure, feel unpopular or anyone who is simply interested.
