Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell

Fangirl By Rainbow Rowell follows Cath, a social outcast who would rather write fanfiction then face the real world. Cath and her twin Wren are going off to college and they've always been close, but now Wren would rather spend time drinking and meeting boys than being with Cath. Meanwhile Cath's Room mate and her 'boyfriend' are determined to bring her out of her shell.

Fangirl was actually the first book I read by rainbow rowell, and I'm so glad I did. As well as being a fantastic novel with just the right amount of geekyness and romance in it, this was very reminiscent. The fanfiction Cath writes is based on 'The Simon Snow' series. Rainbow Rowell based this series on the 'Harry Potter' series by J.K Rowling. I read the Harry Potter books at a young age and loved seeing Cath experiencing the same feelings I felt as I went through them.

I would rate this a 10/10

Eleanor and Park - Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor and Park is a dual perspective novel that follows both Eleanor, a misunderstood complete social outcast, who couldn't stick out more even if she tried. And Park, the guy who kept to himself, listened to music and read comics. When the two of them cross paths an unfortold friendship blooms, one which will change their lives forever.

This book was the second book I read by Rainbow Rowell and i loved it. It was so full of emotion and the characters felt so real. The story was so sweet and the ending had me online and needing answers. Made me feel happy one page, sad the next and then angry the next.A beautiful novel.

I would rate this 9 and a half / 10 stars

Username: Evie - Joe Sugg

i
Username: Evie is a graphic novel by Joe Sugg ( ThatcherJoe on youtube). The story tells of Evie, a social outcast, bullied by her cousin. All she wants is a place to escape the world in which she is. One day she finds, on her fathers laptop, a world that he created for her. It is a peaceful and tranquil place, a true wonder. However whether things stay like that, is up to Evie.

This is the first graphic novel I have ever read and can i just say that I'm thoroughly impressed. The illustrations were absolutely beautiful, the story interesting and the character of Evie was relate-able. I decided to buy this mainly because i do like Joe Sugg's youtube channel, but also because I wanted to branch out and discover a graphic novel for the first time.
I enjoyed the experience and am glad I did.

I would rate this 9 and a half / 10 stars.

Looking for Alaska - John Green

Looking for Alaska follows Miles (Pudge) Halters on his journey through a year at the Culver Creek boarding school. He decided to go there in search of his "great perhaps" in life. Miles' special "talent" is that he remembers people's last words. It is there that he meets Alaska, the beautiful, book loving, cigarette smoking and unmistakeably messed up girl who lives several dorms down.

Personally John Green is my favourite author and I love all of his works. However this book was my least favourite of all 5 of his books.Having red this after The Fault in our Stars and Paper Towns ( my favourite John Green book ) I had extremely high expectations.

Don't get me wrong, I still liked the book. It had the great character development that can be expected from all John Green books along with the wonderful metaphorical meanings that make you question your entire being.

I have found that with all John Green books the interpretations are different to individuals and my experience certainly won't be exactly alike to anyone else's.

I would give this book 7/10 stars and would strongly encourage you to read this and post your interpretations and views on the book in the comments section below.

Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins

Mockingjay is the third and final instalment of the Hunger Games trilogy. It continues the story of Katniss, who has now survived two Hunger Games' and has now been recruited by the rebels in district 13. They want her to be the symbol of the rebellion, The Mockingjay.

I thought that Mockingjay was a brilliant way to end the Hunger Games trilogy. There was lots of action, emotion and tears were shed. Personally, I thought the ending was brilliant and I also found myself shouting at the book and willing the characters to do what i wanted them to. It is completely engrossing and jam packed full of Hunger Games action.

I would rate this 9/10.

Please do share your opinions of the book in the comments. Also please feel free to start discussions and leave suggestions for what i should read and review next.

Catching fire - Suzanne Collins

Catching fire is the sequel to The Hunger Games. And after surviving her first Hunger Games Katniss is forced to go into the world of combat again, as she fights her way through the 75th annual Hunger Games.

Personally I thought this, just like the first book, was amazing. It had great attention to detail and a thriving storyline. The only criticism i have is that I felt their time in the arena was cut short and like there could have been more there, but still a wonderful book. In this book we can really begin to see how big the situation is becoming and can only imagine what Mockingjay has in store

I would rate this 8/10

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is about Katniss, a sassy and rebellious teen with a unique gift with a bow and arrow. She lives in Panem, the only place left after many wars and the self destruction of our race. Panem is run my the Capitol and under its rule are the 12 districts, each with a different skill. Katniss belongs to district 12 along with her mother, sister Primrose and best friend Gale. The unique thing about this new world is that every year there is a Hunger Games in which 24 teens, 2 from each district, have a fight to the death with only one victor. And Katniss gets thrown into the middle of it all.

I read the hunger games quite a while ago, before there was any mention of films coming out at all. It intrigued me as to how the system of the games would work and my interest continued even after I closed the end of the book. It is very well written with an amazing attention to detail. The characters almost felt real, and i found my self crying at points.

I would rate this book a 9/10

Everything Everything - Nicola Yoon

Everything Everything is a nice, light and easy read that is certainly spectacular. It follows Maddy, who has a rare disease called Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). She also hasent left the house in 17 years. She has an air lock on her front door and has to have hourly check-ups because nobody knows what sets off her reactions. One day, a family moves in next door. With them comes Olly, the handsome, parkour doing and wonderful boy who is determined to bring her out.

This book was totally heart wrenching and literally had me crying. It portrays the risks one takes for love and what its like to fall in love all in one. For Nicola Yoon's debut novel I am thoroughly impressed. The book isn't too  long so is a nice easy read and in some ways the story  is too short. It certainly left me wanting more.

I would rate this 9/10.

The Lunar Chronicles: Cinder - Marissa Meyer

Cinder by Marissa Meyer is about Cinder, a girl living in New Beijing sometime in the future. There are hover cars and Micro chips, but Cinder is a cyborg. She lost her hand and leg in a hover car  accident when she was a child and now the limbs that were once there are replaced by metal technology. A deadly second plague also exists, Letumosis. And up on the moon are the Lunar people with their strange magical powers and secrets than no one seems to be able to uncover.

For me, Cinder was a great novel. A Brilliant start to a series that made me need to read the next one. Cinder's feelings and emotions were put across wonderfully and you almost felt it as she would. You truly did hate her step- mother and root for Cinder to the end.

I would rate this a 9/10

Popular a Memoir - Maya Van Wagenen

Popular a Memoir by Maya Van Wagenen is a truly inspirational and motivational true story about Maya, a modern geek at the bottom of the social hierarchy. One day she finds a 1950's popularity guide written by teen model of the time, Betty Cornell. She decides to follow the guide completely in an attempt to see whether the advice from decades ago would still actually work.

I found this novel to be truly amazing, inspiring and motivational. Maya is such a bubbly and bright personality and her journey and what she discovers is too. This book made me laugh out loud andd nearly cry, but the end result and conclusion opened my eyes and made me see things a lot differently

I would rate this book 9/10 and would definitely recommend it to anybody, especially teens and pre teens who may be insecure, feel unpopular or anyone who is simply interested.

Finding Audrey - Sophie Kinsella

Finding Audrey is about Audrey Turner, who cant leave the house. She has major anxiety attacks and can't even take off her sunglasses inside her house. She can't even make eye contact with anyone until one day she meets her brother's friend , Linus. Linus is cool and confident and is determined to help her come outside.Starting with Starbucks.

Finding Audrey is a nice short, easy read. It only has 280 pages so its quite nice to read in an afternoon. I read it one sitting and found it quite hilarious. Audrey's family, especially her mother, were absolutely hysterical and brilliant.I found Audrey and Linus' journey together very sweet and found myself smiling at there every encounter.

I would rate this 7/10

I would recommend this for teens and pre-teens as a nice easy read.

Paper Towns - John Green

Paper towns is the story of Quentin Jacobsen, a boy from Jefferson Park in Orlando,Florida. He has spent nearly his entire existence in love with the girl next door, Margo Roth Spiegelman.
She is adventurous, popular and way out of his league. Until one night she climbs through his window and they embark on a night of revenge. However, the next morning, she is gone. And Quentin and his friends Ben, Radar and Lacey must find a way to reach her.

This was the second John Green book I read and turned out to become my favourite. There is a wonderful use of metaphorical meanings in this book as you can usually find in a John Green book. There was great character development and it was a story that had you laughing out loud.

I am yet to see the movie adaptation but i hope that it can match the brilliancy of the book.

I would rate this book a 10/10 and would recommend it to anyone that will listen.

The Fault in our Stars - John Green

The fault in our stars by John Green follows Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters. Hazel is suffering with terminal cancer and is forced to go to a support group for teens with cancer. It's there she meets Augustus, an amputee who survived cancer. The story follows a journey the two of then have together because of the book " An imperial Affliction ".

As the first John Green book I had ever read i didn't quite know what to expect. It had been recommended to me by a friend and i wasn't sure as to whether it would be the book for me. However I read it and was pleasantly surprised. The character development is wonderful and the realness and beauty of it are amazing.

I would recommend this book greatly as it is influential and beautiful.

I rate this a 9/10
